Introduction

Overview of Sealing Performance and Testing Standards for Cultural Relics Display Cabinets

National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 36110-2018 "Sealing Performance and Testing of Cultural Relics Display Cabinets" is an important specification for the field of cultural relics protection, aiming to ensure that cultural relics are effectively controlled during display and storage. This standard specifies the classification of sealing degree, sealing performance requirements and ventilation rate testing methods for cultural relics display cabinets.

Background and significance of standard formulation

With the increasing awareness of cultural heritage protection, museums and cultural institutions have increasingly higher requirements for the display and storage environment of cultural relics. As an important protection carrier, the sealing performance of cultural relics display cabinets directly affects the safety and exhibition effect of cultural relics. The formulation of this standard is based on actual needs and combines advanced technologies at home and abroad to provide scientific basis and technical support for cultural relics protection.

Classification of display cabinet sealing degree

Category Ventilation rate range Applicable scenarios
High-sealed display cabinet $\leqslant 0.5 \mathrm{d}^{-1}$ First-level cultural relics display, scenarios using inert gas preservation technology.
Sealed display cabinet $0.5 \mathrm{d}^{-1} < \leqslant 1 \mathrm{d}^{-1}$ Second-level and below cultural relics display, scenarios with requirements for microenvironment regulation.
General showcase $> 1 \mathrm{d}^{-1}$ Scenario with basic display requirements and no special protection requirements.

Showcase ventilation rate detection method

Detection principle:The carbon dioxide tracer gas concentration decay method is used. By introducing an appropriate amount of carbon dioxide into the showcase and observing the change of its concentration over time, the showcase ventilation rate is calculated.

Instruments and Materials

  • Carbon dioxide non-spectral infrared gas analyzer (2 units)
  • Tracer gas: carbon dioxide ($\mathrm{CO_{2}}$)

Testing steps

  1. Preparation: Take out the cultural relics, seal the ventilation port, and confirm that the battery of the instrument is normal.
  2. Sampling and measurement: Place the analyzer inside and outside the display cabinet, pass carbon dioxide gas and let it stand for 2 hours.
  3. Record concentration changes: The measurement time is not less than 24 hours, and the concentration difference $\Delta c_{t}$ is calculated.
  4. Result calculation: Use exponential decay curve fitting to calculate the ventilation rate $n$, ensuring that $R^{2} > 0.99$.

Key data

The change in carbon dioxide concentration measured by the analyzer can accurately calculate the display cabinet ventilation rate. For example, when $\Delta c_{t}$ is less than 1.0%, the test ends. This method ensures the accuracy and reliability of the test results.

Implementation suggestions

To ensure the effective implementation of the standard, it is recommended to take the following measures:

  • Strengthen cultural relics protection awareness training and enhance the attention of relevant personnel to the sealing performance of display cabinets.
  • Regularly test the display cabinet ventilation rate to ensure that it meets the standard requirements.
  • Optimize the display cabinet design, reduce leakage points, and improve sealing performance.
  • Promote the use of advanced tracer gas detection equipment to improve detection efficiency and accuracy.
