Introduction
1. Background and significance of the standard
The National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 36180-2018 "Luyan White Pig" is a standard jointly drafted by the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Research Institute of Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other units under the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and under the unified management of the National Animal Husbandry Standard Technical Committee. The formulation of this standard fills the gap in the field of high-quality lean meat pig breed standards in China and provides a scientific basis for the identification, breeding and promotion of Luyan White Pig.
2. Breed origin and characteristics
Luyan White Pig is bred by Laizhou City, Shandong Province through the hybridization of Yantai Black Pig, Sige Pig maternal line and Landrace Pig, with the blood relationship ratios of 25%, 25% and 50% respectively. Its main characteristics are as follows:
- Medium size, strong physique
- The whole body is white with moderate density
- The head is light, the ears are medium-sized and slightly tilted forward
- The back and waist are straight, and the hindquarters are plump
