Scope

The generic cabling specified in this standard is in addition to and not a substitute for the cabling infrastructure specified in ISO/IEC 11801. This standard specifies the requirements for the cabling system infrastructure of user buildings required to form a grid of wireless coverage areas within a single building. This standard applies to all balanced cabling and fiber optic cabling specified in ISO/IEC 11801. This standard specifies the design and configuration of horizontal cabling subsystems compatible with ISO/IEC 11801. Include requirements and guidelines for: a) minimum configuration, structure and topology; b) performance requirements for permanent links and channels; c) coverage and location of telecommunications outlets; d) interfaces for wireless access points; e) balanced cabling on the power supply. The layout and security of wireless access points are not specified within this standard, but this standard specifies the layout of telecommunications outlets to enable flexible deployment of wireless services. Safety (electrical, fire protection, etc.) requirements and electromagnetic compatibility requirements are not specified in this standard.
