Introduction

1. Standard Overview

National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 36511-2018 "Underwater Emergency Breathing Apparatus for Helicopters" specifies the structure, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and packaging, transportation and storage requirements of underwater emergency breathing apparatus for helicopter crew members. This standard applies to underwater emergency breathing apparatus for helicopters (hereinafter referred to as "underwater emergency breathing apparatus"), and aims to ensure its reliability and effectiveness in emergency situations.

2. Background of Standard Formulation

With the widespread use of helicopters in water operations, ensuring the survival safety of crew members in underwater environments has become an important task. As a key safety device, underwater emergency breathing apparatus provides life support for crew members in the event of a helicopter crash or emergency landing. The formulation of this standard is based on a summary of existing technologies and a forecast of future needs to ensure that product performance meets actual use requirements.

3. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions Technical requirements Test methods Conformity verification
Structural design Consists of gas cylinders, pressure reducers, lung valve mechanisms, etc., in accordance with the requirements of GB/T28053 Dimension inspection and appearance quality inspection Conformity verification is confirmed by the structural diagram in Figure 1
Performance Depth 0m~20m, temperature 5°C~35°C, gas supply time ≥1.5min Physiological tests and performance tests Compliance verification is confirmed by the test connection diagram in Figure 2
Environmental adaptability Performance stability under extreme conditions such as low temperature, high temperature and low air pressure Environmental simulation test and recovery test Compliance verification is confirmed by HB 6167 series standards

4. Analysis of Technical Requirements

Respirator structure:An underwater emergency respirator is generally composed of a mouthpiece, a lung valve mechanism, a hose, a gas cylinder and a pressure reducer (see Figure 1). Among them, the pressure reducer is generally equipped with a manual switch, a safety valve, an inflation nozzle and a pressure gauge.

Air supply time: When the average lung ventilation is 25 L/min, the air supply time of the underwater emergency breathing apparatus should be no less than 1.5 min. This requires the equipment to provide sufficient oxygen support in an emergency.

5. Implementation suggestions

To ensure the effectiveness and reliability of the underwater emergency breathing apparatus, it is recommended to take the following measures:

  • Regularly check the air tightness of the equipment, the performance of the pressure reducer and the sealing of each connection.
  • Carry out environmental adaptability tests such as low temperature, high temperature, and damp heat in accordance with standard requirements.
  • Train helicopter crew members to correctly use and maintain underwater emergency breathing apparatus to ensure effective application in emergency situations.
