3 Requirements

3.1 Appearance

Coloring ink shall be free from obvious color difference, impurities, visible pigment particles and solidified homogeneous liquid.

3.2 Color

The 12 commonly used codes of coloring ink are as shown in Table 1, which may be distinguished by visual inspection, without obvious color difference.

The values of the coloring layer shall meet those specified in Annex A.

If not specified in Table 1, the color may be negotiated by the supplier and the demander.

a The curing state when liquid pigment with a certain film thickness shows relative curing degree of 95% or above under UV.

3.4 Compatibility

The main materials in contact with coloring ink, such as fiber paste or cable paste, shall be tested according to 4.9. After the test, the coating surface shall be free from decolorization or obvious discoloration.

3.5 High- and low- temperature property

After curing, the coating film shall be tested according to 4.10, and it shall be free from obvious fading and cracks after the test.

3.6 Solvent resistance of coloring layer

After curing, the coating film shall be tested according to 4.11, and it shall be free from fading and decolorization after wiped with corresponding reagents for specified times.

3.7 Environmental protection property

It shall meet the requirements of GB/T 26572-2011.

4 Test methods

4.1 Appearance

Under the indoor natural light, the bottled ink mixed well is poured into the glass dish with a diameter of 100mm, and visually inspected within 10s.

4.2 Color

4.2.1 Color code

The color of coloring ink shall be compared by color cards during visual inspection under natural light (or fluorescent lamp). Arbitration shall be made based on the munsell coordinates specified in Table A.2.

4.2.2 Color of coloring layer

4.2.2.1 Apparatus

The apparatus are as follows:

a) UV illuminance meter;

b) UV light;

c) Glass slide: 25.4mm × 76.2mm;

d) Paint scraper: film thickness of (30±10)μm;

e) Spectrophotometer.

4.2.2.2 Sample preparation

The sample is made into a thin film with a thickness of (30±10)μm on a glass slide, and is cured by UV dose with a thickness of (0.55±0.05) J/cm2 for measurement.

4.2.2.3 Test steps

The color code of coloring ink may be measured by spectrophotometer to measure one of L, a, b or H, V, C. The test steps are as follows:

a) Fold the cured sample film into 3 layers to make it opaque for use;

b) Open the spectrophotometer and calibrate the sample by the whiteboard;

c) Test the sample and record the L, a, b values displayed on the instrument;

d) Test the sample and record the H, V, C values displayed on the instrument.

4.3 Viscosity

The viscosity of liquid ink shall be determined according to GB/T 9751.1-2008 or GB/T 12004.4-2003 under the test temperature of (25±2)°C. Arbitration is made according to GB/T 9751.1-2008.
