1. Background and Significance of Standard Formulation
China is a unified multi-ethnic country, and each ethnic group has created a rich and colorful cultural heritage in the long-term historical development process. As an important part of the Chinese national culture, ancient books in ethnic minority languages have far-reaching historical, academic and artistic value.
In order to protect and inherit these precious cultural heritages, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism jointly proposed the "Classification of Ancient Books in Chinese Minority Languages" standard, and officially released GB/T 36748—2018 in 2018. This standard clarifies the principles for the classification and classification of ancient books in ethnic minority languages, and provides a scientific basis for the collection, protection and research of ancient books.

3. Analysis of Grading Rules
GB/T 36748-2018 standard divides ancient books in minority languages into five levels. The specific classification criteria include:
- Principle of historical relics: The value is based on the era in which the ancient books were produced. The value is reflected in the early era of printing and copying, and it has collection value.
- Principle of academic materials: The content is important, the text is carefully proofread, there are few text errors, and the annotations are meticulous.
- Principle of artistic representativeness: It reflects the evolution of ancient printing technology, copying level and binding form.
4. Implementation Suggestions
4.1 Research and Evaluation Phase
It is recommended that libraries, museums and ethnic and religious research institutions at all levels first conduct a comprehensive ancient book survey, establish a complete ancient book archive, and invite experts to conduct a preliminary evaluation.
4.2 Develop personalized protection strategies
Develop corresponding protection measures according to the characteristics of ancient books of different levels. For example, first-level ancient books should be given priority for digital preservation and display, and the number of borrowing times for second-level and above ancient books should be limited.
4.3 Strengthen publicity and public education
Through holding special exhibitions, publishing catalogs and conducting lectures, we can raise public awareness of the value of ancient books in ethnic minority languages and attract more young people to participate in protection work.
