Introduction

1. Standard Overview

GB/T 36929—2018 is a national standard of the People's Republic of China, which specifically stipulates the liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for the determination of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) extractable from leather and fur.

2. Background of Standard Drafting

This standard was proposed by the China Light Industry Federation and managed by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Leather Industry. The drafting units include Zhejiang Fangyuan Testing Group Co., Ltd., National Leather Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Zhejiang) and other authoritative institutions.

3. Principle of the Method

PFOS and PFOA in the sample were extracted using a Soxhlet extraction device using methanol as the solvent. After the extract was purified by a solid phase extraction column, it was determined using a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS), and selected ion confirmation and external standard method were used for quantification.

Steps Detailed description
Extraction Accurately weigh the sample and use methanol for Soxhlet extraction.
Purification Remove impurities through a solid phase extraction column, collect the eluate and concentrate it to a fixed volume.
Determination Use LC-MS/MS to analyze the sample and draw a standard curve to determine the content.

4. Key technical requirements

Instruments and reagents:Analytical balance, liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS), methanol, acetonitrile, etc.

Extraction conditions:Methanol as solvent, temperature 85℃, extraction time 30 minutes.

5. Experimental steps

5.1 Sampling method

  • Leather samples were sampled according to QB/T 2706.
  • Fur samples were sampled according to QB/T 1267 to ensure that the fur was intact.

5.2 Sample preparation

Leather and fur samples were prepared according to QB/T 2716 and QB/T 1272, respectively.


6. Data analysis and result calculation

Calculate the PFOS and PFOA content in the sample according to the standard curve and formula. The result is rounded to one decimal place in milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg).
