Introduction

Interpretation of the National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 37598—2019

Standard Dimensions GB/T 37598—2019 Comparison Standard ASTA M A452
Scope of Application Inspection of macroscopic non-metallic inclusions in steel, with a length of not less than 1 mm and a width of not less than 0.1 mm Applicable to the detection of non-metallic inclusions of similar sizes
Core Method Bluing fracture method, generating an oxide film by heating to the blue brittle temperature Combination of heat treatment and microscopic observation
Detection accuracy Inclusion length is recorded accurately to 0.1 mm ASTM A452 has higher requirements and requires calibration of equipment to the micron level

Principle and application case of bluing fracture method

Bluing treatment:Heat the steel to the blue brittle temperature (300°C~350°C), and a very thin blue oxide film will be formed on the surface, and non-metallic inclusions will retain their original color. This method is suitable for distinguishing ferrite bands, carbide bands and non-metallic inclusions.

Precautions in practical application

  • High alloy steel treatment:Appropriately increase the blue brittle temperature, but not more than 530°C to avoid excessive oxidation.
  • Specimen preparation: Ensure that the groove depth is appropriate to prevent detection errors caused by heat-affected zones.
