Introduction

Standard Overview and Technical Background

GB/T38285-2019 is my country's first national standard specifically for motorcycle and moped brakes, proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and managed by the National Technical Committee for Automotive Standardization. The standard integrates the two major technical systems of hydraulic disc brakes and mechanical drum brakes, reflecting the current industry trend of the development of braking technology from traditional mechanical to hydraulic.

Core Parameters Comparison

Technical Indicators Hydraulic Disc Brake Mechanical Drum Brake
Sealing Pressure ≥24.5MPa -
Drag Torque ≤3N·m(First Turn)/≤2N·m(10 Turns) -
Thermal Decay Rate ≤25% ≤25%
Crushing torque (front wheel) - 640-2415N·m (graded by diameter)

Analysis of key performance requirements

4.4.1 Thermal decay performance

The standard stipulates that the thermal decay rate η≤25%, which is calculated by the formula η=(Ms-Mn)/Ms×100%. In practical applications, it is recommended to control it through the following measures:

  • Select friction materials with high thermal stability
  • Optimize the heat dissipation structure of the brake disc
  • Control the continuous braking interval to ≥60 seconds

4.2.2.6 Torque destructive strength

The brake caliper is required to withstand 3 times the maximum torque (corresponding to 0.8g deceleration). This indicator is directly related to the structural reliability during emergency braking. Notes during the test:

  1. Strictly clean the friction surface
  2. Ensure that the rotation direction is consistent with the actual vehicle
  3. Maintain a brake holding time of 0.5-2.5s

Key points of the test method

5.1.1.1 Sealing performance test

A three-level sealing verification system is adopted:

Vacuum sealing 5s pressure rise detection under -98kPa±2kPa
Air pressure sealing 10s pressure drop detection under 50kPa + 0.5MPa pressure holding
Hydraulic sealing 5s pressure drop detection under 130% working pressure

Typical case: A certain model of brake master cylinder had a pressure drop of 0.3MPa/30s during the 130% pressure test, and the standard was met by improving the piston seal groove design.

Implementation suggestions

Manufacturers

  • Establish a special cleanliness control system for brakes (refer to QC/T572)
  • Strengthen the surface treatment process of the brake caliper sliding shaft
  • Develop an automated thermal decay test bench

Testing agencies

  • Equipped with a temperature measurement system that complies with QC/T556
  • Establish dynamic balance detection capabilities for brake discs
  • Improve the acceleration spectrum database for vibration durability tests
