Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

This standard establishes a standardized method for the determination of 11 benzophenone ultraviolet absorbers in textiles using High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Diode Array Detector (HPLC-DAD). The detection range covers all kinds of textile products, the method determination limit is 10mg/kg, and the precision requirement is a relative standard deviation of ≤10%.

Typical application case

When a sportswear company used this standard to detect the content of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone in sunscreen clothing, the following critical control points were found:

  1. The extraction temperature needs to be strictly controlled at 60±1℃
  2. The proportion of mobile phase B needs to be accurately adjusted to 80% at 42min in the gradient elution program
  3. The retention time of 2,3,4-trihydroxybenzophenone at a wavelength of 310nm should be 16.129min

Standard Evolution Analysis

Compared with the 2009 version, this standard has the following major technical breakthroughs:

  • The number of test substances has been expanded from 6 to 11, with the addition of new ultraviolet absorbers such as 5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzophenone
  • The multi-wavelength synchronous detection technology (258/280/310nm) is used to improve the method specificity
  • The mobile phase formula (methanol-isopropanol-formic acid system) is optimized to improve the peak shape

Implementation suggestions

Special attention should be paid to laboratory operations:

  1. The standard stock solution should be stored at 4℃ in the dark and is valid for 3 months
  2. The sample should be cut into 5mm×5mm pieces to ensure the extraction efficiency
  3. It is recommended to add a blank control and a spike recovery experiment to each batch of tests
