Introduction
Analysis of the core content of the standard
GB/T 39165-2020 is equivalent to the ISO 10447:2015 international standard, and establishes a systematic destructive testing method system for multi-layer metal plate resistance welding joints with a thickness of 0.5-5.0mm. The standard innovatively divides the test methods into two types: peel test and chisel test.
Comparison of key test methods
| Test type | Applicable scenarios | Equipment requirements | Fracture form determination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chisel test | Weld point size determination/quality verification | Special chisel (see Figure 3/4) + hammer tool | Boss fracture/joint surface fracture |
| Peel test | Weld point strength assessment | Bench vise/hand pliers or tensile testing machine | Symmetrical/asymmetric boss fracture |
Key points of technical implementation
1. Chisel selection specification
Chapter 4 of the standard clearly stipulates: When the diameter of the weld spot is <8mm, the chisel of type Figure 3a shall be used, and when the plate thickness is ≤2mm, the non-destructive test chisel of type Figure 4a shall be selected. The chisel slot design shall ensure that the axis coincides with the center of the weld.
2. Weld spot diameter measurement
The formula is: dw=(d1+d2)/2, where d1 and d2 are the maximum/minimum diameters respectively. For partial boss fracture, the boss diameter dp=(d3+d4)/2 needs to be additionally measured.
Analysis of Standard Evolution
Compared with ISO 10447:2015, this standard mainly makes three improvements:
- Add Mechanical peeling test and quote GB/T 39166
- Refer to the chisel size parameters (add type Figure 4b)
- Clarify the recording requirements of the d1/d2 ratio of asymmetric welds
Application suggestions
Special attention should be paid during implementation:
- Non-destructive chisel peeling test should be used with caution for high-strength steel specimens
- Layered test is required for plates with more than three layers
- Weld spot diameter measurement should be rounded to 0.1mm
