Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

GB/T 39648-2020 specifies a standardized method for converting color changes into gray card grades using the CIE DE2000 color difference formula using a digital imaging system consisting of a digital camera and a D65 light source box. This standard is modified to adopt ISO 105-A11:2012, and the main technical differences are reflected in:

Key technical requirements

1. Hardware system specifications

The digital imaging system must include:

  • ≥3 million pixels calibrated digital camera
  • D65 light source box (color rendering index> 95)
  • Calibration color chart (150+ color blocks)

2. Rating algorithm

Use the improved CIEDE2000 formula to calculate color difference:

Color change rating: GRC=0.88+3.89e-0.2ΔEGRC

Color staining rating: GRS=-0.061ΔEGRS+2.474/(1+e-0.191ΔEGRS)


Implementation and application suggestions

1. Equipment maintenance points

  1. Replace the D65 light source every 12 months or as required by the manufacturer
  2. Preheat for 10 minutes before daily use
  3. Replace the calibration color chart every year and update the spectral data

2. Test precautions

  • Multi-color samples need to be rated by different areas
  • The most serious part of the non-uniform staining area should be manually selected
  • Special treatment conditions must be noted in the test report

Actual application case

After a testing agency adopted this method, the inter-laboratory rating difference dropped from 0.53 to 0.29, which is significantly better than the traditional visual rating (0.61 level difference). Especially when evaluating multi-fiber interlinings, different components can be automatically separated for independent rating.
