Key technical requirements

The standard stipulates that the breaking load of the guide rope shackle must be 3 times the mooring rope WLL, and the tail rope MBL should be 125%-130% of the mooring rope design breaking load. The specific resistance of the anti-static combined rope must be controlled within the range of 1×105-5×106Ω/m.


Implementation and application recommendations

1. Selection guidance: Liquid cargo ships should give priority to roller-type combined ropes (T-type), whose roller-type shackles can reduce friction loss during mooring

2. Inspection points: Tensile load test must be carried out before leaving the factory, and the guide rope shackle must remain under the test load for ≥5 minutes without permanent deformation

3. Maintenance recommendations: The anti-wear sheath at the fiber rope buckle should be checked regularly, and the wire rope should be stored away from corrosive media


Background of standard evolution

This standard integrates the ISO1140:2021 fiber rope standard and the OCIMF mooring guide requirements, and for the first time incorporates Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber rope into the marine mooring standard system reflects the application trend of new materials in the marine field.
