《GB/T 4200-2008高温作业分级》由TC288（全国安全生产标准化技术委员会）归口，TC288SC7（全国安全生产标准化技术委员会防尘防毒分会）执行，主管部门为应急管理部。
本标准对国家标准GB/T 4200-1997《高温作业分级》和GB 935-1989《高温作业允许持续接触热时间限值》进行了修订，并把两个标准合并为一，使标准更具有可操作性和符号实际情况。本标准代替GB/T 4200-1997和GB 935-1989。
本标准规定了高温作业环境热强度大小的分级和高温作业人员允许持续接触热时间与休息时间限值。
本标准适用于对高温作业实施职业安全卫生分级管理。允许持续接触热时间限值适用于一般室内的高温作业。
本标准与GB/T 4200-1997和GB 935-1989相比，主要变化有：
――按照GB/T 1.1的要求重新起草了标准文本，增加了规范性引用文件。
――规范了WBGT指数的表示方法。
――取消了原标准中定向辐射击热的修正系数。
――规定了各地区调整劳动期限参考气候学的标准。
――对原《高温作业允许持续接触热时间限值》标准附录A中的劳动强度的确定进行了重新规定。
――取消了原《高温作业允许持续接触热时间限值》标准中的附录B和附录C。

1 Scope

This standard specifies the classification of the heat intensity of hot work environment and the limits of allowable continuous heat exposure time and rest time for the ones working in hot environments.
This standard is applicable to the multi-level management of occupational safety and health for hot environment work. The limits of allowable continuous heat exposure time are applicable to general indoor hot environment work.
