Introduction

In-depth interpretation of the National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 4292—2017

Standard background and revision notes

GB/T 4292—2017 "Aluminum fluoride" is a national standard formulated for the quality and technical requirements of aluminum fluoride products. This revision mainly updates the following contents:

  • Adjustment of normative reference documents: GB/T 1250 is revised to GB/T 8170
  • Optimization of brand system: The original AF-0, AF-1, AF-2, and AF-3 are simplified into three brands: AF-0, AF-1, and AF-2
  • Adjustment of chemical composition:

    • The SiO₂ in AF-1 is revised to 0.32
    • The F, Al, Na, SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, SO₄²⁻ and ignition loss indicators in AF-2 are adjusted to: 60.0, 31.0, 0.60, 0.35, 0.10, 0.60, and 2.5

These revisions are based on the industry's technological development and actual application needs, and further clarify the quality standards of aluminum fluoride.

Comparison of grades and chemical composition

Grade Chemical composition (mass fraction) % Physical properties
F Al Na SiO₂ Fe₂O₃ SO₄²⁻ P₂O₅ Bulk density Loss on ignition (g/cm³)
    AF-0 61.0 31.5 0.30 0.10 0.06 0.10 0.03 0.5 1.5
    AF-1 60.0 31.0 0.40 0.32 0.10 0.60 0.04 1.0 1.3
    AF-2 60.0 31.0 0.60 0.35 0.10 0.60 0.04 2.5 0.7

Analysis of Practical Application and Technological Evolution of Aluminum Fluoride

Aluminum fluoride is mainly used in aluminum electrolysis industry as flux and electrolyte. Its quality directly affects aluminum production efficiency and product quality.

    • Grade AF-0: Suitable for scenarios with high purity requirements
    • Grade AF-1: Balances cost and performance, widely used in general electrolysis processes
    • Grade AF-2: Optimized for specific processes, suitable for high-efficiency production needs

    Implementation suggestions and precautions

Quality control: It is recommended that manufacturers establish a complete testing system and strictly inspect the chemical composition and physical properties in accordance with standard requirements. Focus on fluorine content (F) and aluminum content (Al), which directly affect product performance.

Packaging and storage: The product should be packaged in moisture-proof and waterproof packaging to avoid caking. It is recommended to use coated plastic woven bags or paper bags, with a net weight of 50kg, 1000kg or 1500kg per bag.

Transportation Suggestions: During transportation, choose a dry and clean vehicle and take rainproof measures to ensure that product quality is not affected.
