This standard is not equivalent to the international standards ISO 7738: 2001, Assembly tools for screws and nuts - Combination wrenches - Lengths of wrenches and maximum thickness of heads, ISO 10102: 2001, Assembly tools for screws and nuts - Double-headed open-ended engineer's wrenches - Length of wrenches and thickness of the heads, ISO 10103: 2001, Assembly tools for screws and nuts - Double-headed, flat and offset, box wrenches - Length of wrenches and thickness of the heads, ISO 10104: 2001, Assembly tools for screws and nuts - Double-headed, deep offset and modified offset, box wrenches - Length of wrenches and thickness of the heads.

This standard replaces GB/T 4388-1995 Types of open-end wrenches, box wrenches and combination wrenches.

The main differences between this standard and GB/T 4388-1995 are as follows:

——The specifications (s1×s2) of 19×24, 24×26, 27×29 and 30×36 and their corresponding dimensions for double open-end wrenches and double box wrenches are added (Table 1 of 1995 Edition; Table 1 hereof);

The end thickness of short-type double open-ended wrench in the previous standard is deleted, so that the thickness of long-type and short-type wrenches is consistent (Table 1 in 1995 Edition; Table 1 hereof);

——The specifications (s) of 3.2, 4 and 5 for combination wrenches and their corresponding dimensions are added (Table 2 of 1995 Edition; Table 2 hereof);

——The length and end thickness of the dual-purpose wrench are adjusted (Table 2 of 1995 Edition; Table 2 hereof);

——The values for basic dimensions are adjusted (Tables 1 and 2 of 1995 Edition, Tables 1 and 2 hereof).

Types of open-end wrenches, box wrenches and combination wrenches

1 Scope

This standard specifies the types of open-end wrenches, box wrenches and combination wrenches for screwing bolts and nuts or other fasteners. The illustration of this standard is only an example and does not affect the design of products.

This standard is applicable to open-end wrenches, box wrenches and combination wrenches specified in GB/T 4625.

3 Product classification

3.1 Types and basic dimensions of open-end wrenches

3.1.1 The open-end wrenches are divided into two types: double open-ended wrenches and single open-ended wrenches (see Figures 1 and 2). Where, the double open-ended wrenches can be further divided into short and long types.

3.1.2 The specifications and basic dimensions of double open-ended wrenches shall be as specified in Table 1, and that of single open-ended wrenches shall be as specified in Table 2.
