Introduction

1. Background and significance of the standard

GB/T 44237-2024 is jointly managed by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Nonferrous Metals (SAC/TC243) and the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Additive Manufacturing (SAC/TC 562), and aims to standardize the packaging, marking, transportation and storage requirements of metal powders for additive manufacturing. The formulation of this standard fills the gap in the management of metal powder packaging in the field of domestic additive manufacturing, and provides an important basis for ensuring product quality and safety.

2. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions GB/T 44237—2024 requirements Comparison with international advanced standards
Packaging materials It is recommended to use the plastic composite film specified in GB/T 10004, which meets the requirements of environmental protection and moisture resistance In line with ASTM F2578-19 additive manufacturing powder packaging standard
Transportation marks In line with GB/T 6388, including box number, batch number and other information Higher than ISO 9001 logistics management requirements
Storage conditions Requires a ventilated, dry, anti-static environment Consistent with ASTM F429-23 powder storage standard

3. Technical Specification Interpretation

3.1 Packaging requirements

For metal powders with a particle size less than $53~\mu\mathrm{m}$, it is recommended to carry out double-layer vacuum packaging in an inert gas atmosphere (as shown in Figure 1). This packaging method can effectively prevent oxidation and moisture. For products with a particle size of not less than $53\mu\mathrm{m}$, they can be packaged in an atmospheric environment, but care should be taken to avoid a humid environment.

3.2 Transportation and storage

During transportation, special attention should be paid to moisture and corrosion prevention. It is recommended to use pearl cotton or polyethylene plastic film as a cushioning material (as shown in Figure 2). Appropriate fire-fighting equipment must be equipped during storage, and ensure that the storage environment is free of acid, alkali and corrosive chemicals.

4. Implementation Suggestions

  • Enterprise level: Establish a packaging system that meets the standards, and conduct internal audits and training regularly
  • Industry level: Promote collaboration between upstream and downstream industries, and formulate a unified quality inspection process
  • Government level: Strengthen the promotion of standards and support the construction of relevant testing institutions
