Interpretation of GB/T 44331—2024 High-Purity Lithium Borate Standard

1. Overview and Background of the Standard

GB/T 44331—2024 High-Purity Lithium Borate specifies the classification and labeling, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, etc. of high-purity lithium borate. It is applicable to high-purity lithium borate used as a flux in instruments such as X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), flame atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), and inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry (ICP).

3. Technical requirements

The technical requirements for high-purity lithium borate include chemical composition, ignition loss and bulk density, as follows:

  • Chemical composition: the main content (mass fraction) is not less than 99.99%, and the impurity content (such as Si, P, As, etc.) is not more than 0.001%.
  • Loss on ignition: should be less than 0.40%.
  • Bulk density: low-density products are 0.5-0.7 g/cm³, and high-density products are 0.9-1.5 g/cm³.

4. Test methods

The test methods include the determination of chemical composition, loss on ignition and bulk density, as follows:

  • Chemical composition: X-ray diffraction (Appendix A) and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (Appendix BF).
  • Loss on ignition: Determined according to the method specified in Appendix H.
  • Bulk density: Refer to GB/T 1479.1-2011 standard method.

5. Inspection rules

Inspection rules include batching, sampling and result determination:

  • Each batch of products shall not exceed 500 kg.
  • The sampling method adopts the quartering method, and the total sample volume shall not be less than 400 g.
  • If the inspection result is unqualified, double sampling shall be required for retesting.

6. Implementation suggestions

Implementation suggestions in practical applications:

1. Enterprises should establish a sound quality management system to ensure that products meet the requirements of GB/T 44331-2024.

2. During the production process, it is recommended to use automated equipment for chemical composition analysis and bulk density testing.

3. For the mass ratio control of lithium borate mixed flux, enterprises should negotiate with suppliers to determine the specific ratio and clearly mark it in the order form.
