Measurement method of dynamic friction coefficient

The standard innovatively proposes a slope test method: slowly tilt the patterned steel plate cargo box from a horizontal state, and record the tilt angle when the cargo starts to slide. The tangent value is the μ value. μ value range for common material combinations:

  • Wood - Patterned steel plate: 0.30-0.60
  • Flat steel plate - Corrugated cardboard: 0.20-0.40
  • Plastic - PVC: 0.15-0.50

Typical application scenarios

Metal sheet coil transportation case

Special supports must be used when transporting steel sheet coils, with an inclination angle of 37° and a ground clearance of ≥20mm. When using wedge-shaped supports:

  1. Each support must withstand ≥1.5 times the weight of the cargo
  2. The longitudinal spacing shall not exceed 1.5 times the diameter of the coil
  3. When used with the chain lashing assembly, edge guards must be installed at the contact point between the chain and the coil

Analysis of Standard Evolution

Compared with EU EN12195-1:2010, this standard has three major breakthroughs:

  • Refine the determination of unstable cargo: Add quantitative indicators of length-to-height ratio and width-to-height ratio
  • Strengthen process control: Require the loading plan to include mid-haul loading and unloading plans
  • Innovate the inspection mechanism: The first re-inspection system after a 500-1000m trial run
