1. Standard background and revision instructions

GB/T 4697—2017 replaces the previous GB/T 4697—2008. The main revisions include:

  • Modify the standard name
  • Add hot-rolled I-beams for mining and their grades
  • Adjust the cross-sectional size and curvature requirements
  • Update the chemical composition and performance indicators

3. Technical requirements and application cases

3.1 Material and performance

Grades: 20MnK, 25MnK, 20MnVK, chemical composition includes carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), vanadium (V), etc.

Mechanical properties: Tensile strength (Rm) ≥490 MPa, yield strength (RcH) ≥335 MPa, elongation after fracture (A) ≥20%.

3.2 Application examples

In mine tunnel support, 18UY and 25UY steels are mainly used for roof support, and 25U and 29U steels are suitable for side support. I-beams (specifications: 9, 11, 12) are used to enhance the stability of the support structure.

4. Implementation suggestions

  1. Selection: Select steel of appropriate specifications and grades according to the geological conditions of the tunnel.
  2. Inspection: Ensure that the steel meets the technical requirements of GB/T 4697-2017, including dimensional deviation, mechanical properties and surface quality.
  3. Installation: Carry out construction in accordance with the mine support design specifications to ensure structural stability and safety.
  4. Maintenance: Regularly check the use of steel and replace or repair damaged parts in a timely manner.
