Introduction

Background of Standard Revision and Technological Evolution

GB/T4893.2-2020, as the core part of the furniture surface paint film test series standards, replaces the 2005 edition of the standard. This revision mainly responds to the coordination requirements of ISO international standards, combines the development of new materials and new processes, and focuses on improving the following technical contents:

Technical Dimensions 2005 Edition 2020 Edition
Terminology Not clearly defined Four new terms (test specimens, heat source blocks, etc.)
Heat source block requirements Material requirements only Added roughness (2±1μm) and tolerance (±0.2mm)
Light source conditions Dual light source system Simplified to a single diffuse light source (1200±400lx)

Analysis of core test methods

Key requirements for instruments and equipment

The standard specifically specifies the technical parameters of the heat source block:

  • Material: AlMgSi aluminum alloy (GB/T3190) must be used
  • Bottom treatment: Ra value (2±1)μm, to be tested according to GB/T3505
  • Temperature control: preheating must be 10℃ higher than the test temperature

Key points of the test process

  1. Sample pretreatment: 23±2℃/50±5%RH environmental balance for 48h
  2. Heat source block placement: Moist heat is conducted through white polyamide fiber cloth (50g/m²)
  3. Observation conditions: Inspection is required under multi-angle diffuse light (0.25-1m distance)

Grading assessment system

The 2020 version refines the damage level into 5 levels:

Level Judgment characteristics
Level 1 No visual changes
Level 3 Visible color change at multiple angles but no structural changes
Grade 5 Material shedding or fiber cloth adhesion

Implementation suggestions

Troubleshooting

Case 1: When edge effect occurs, ensure that the test area interval is ≥50mm, and use insulating pads to isolate heat conduction

Case 2: For dark paint films, it is recommended to use a 3-person evaluation team and take the closest average grade

Key points for quality control

  • Regularly calibrate the thermometer (JB/T9262 requirement)
  • Detect the roughness of the heat source block before each batch of tests
  • Maintain a constant temperature of 23±2℃ in the test environment
