National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 5167—2018

Determination of the resistivity of sintered metal materials and cemented carbides

1. Scope and applicability of the standard

This standard specifies the method for determining the resistivity of sintered metal materials and cemented carbides, and is applicable to the following two situations:

  • a) Accurate determination: The measurement accuracy is within 0.30%, which is applicable to the study of basic material properties.
  • b) Quality control: The measurement accuracy is relatively low, which is applicable to quality monitoring in industrial production processes.

2. Background of Standard Formulation and Technological Evolution

This standard replaces GB/T 5167—1985. The main updates include:

  • Added Chapter 1 “Scope” and Chapter 2 “Normative References”.
  • Deleted terminology.
  • Improved instrument requirements: added range and accuracy requirements for vernier calipers, lever micrometers, etc.

3. Measuring instruments and technical requirements

4. Measurement process and data processing

When measuring the length and mass of the sample, the error must be controlled within ±0.05%. The cross-sectional area of the sample does not change by more than 0.75%, and cross-sectional uniformity is the key to ensure measurement accuracy.

5. Implementation suggestions

In industrial applications, it is recommended that:

  • Select an instrument with a suitable range: For example, when the resistance is less than 1 Ω, use a Calvin double-arm bridge.
  • Ensure the ambient temperature is controlled at 20 ± 2°C.
  • Calibrate measuring instruments regularly to ensure accuracy requirements.
