Introduction
GBT 6197-2024 Technical requirements and test methods for veneer dryers
1. Standard Overview
This standard replaces GB/T6197-2000 and GB/T6199-2000, and is mainly applicable to roller and mesh belt dryers for wood veneers. New content includes term definitions, safety requirements, energy efficiency limit values and geometric accuracy inspection methods.
2. Comparison of standard frameworks
| Dimensions | Old standard (GB/T6197—2000) | New standard (GBT 6197-2024) |
|---|---|---|
| Term definitions | Terms and definitions are not clarified. | Definitions of terms such as roller veneer dryer and mesh belt veneer dryer are added (see Chapter 3). |
| Parameter requirements | Only the main parameters are specified, and the specific structure and tolerance are not involved. | The roller length, mesh belt width and their tolerances are specified in detail (see Table 1 and Table 2), and the geometric accuracy inspection requirements are added. |
| Safety requirements | Basically no safety protection content is involved. | Added a number of safety requirements, including emergency stop function, high temperature alarm device and mesh belt deviation alarm (see Section 6.4). |
3. Standard implementation recommendations
3.1 Equipment selection and procurement recommendations
When selecting a veneer dryer, the following factors should be considered comprehensively based on the type of wood to be processed, production requirements and site conditions:
- Drying efficiency: The roller type is suitable for fast drying of high-humidity materials, and the mesh belt type is suitable for thin boards and uniform drying.
- Energy efficiency level: High-efficiency motors that meet GB18613-2020 Level 3 are preferred (see 6.1.12).
- Safety configuration: Ensure that the equipment is equipped with emergency stop, high temperature alarm and belt deviation monitoring functions (see Section 6.4).
3.2 Precautions for installation and commissioning
Special attention should be paid during installation:
- The difference in diagonal length of the frame should not be greater than 3mm (see 6.2.4).
- The radial runout of rollers and rollers should comply with the provisions of Class 12 in Table B4 of GB/T1184-1996 (see 6.2.2).
- The geometric accuracy inspection should be carried out section by section during the installation process (see Section 6.5).
4. Diagrams and Specifications
4.1 Schematic diagram of the structure of roller-type veneer dryer
As shown in the figure, the roller dryer consists of an outer frame, an inner frame, a spray box, rollers, a transmission device, etc. (see Figure 1). The hot air circulation inside the equipment achieves wood drying through roller contact heat transfer.
4.2 Schematic diagram of the structure of mesh belt veneer dryer
As shown in the figure, the mesh belt dryer consists of an outer frame, an inner frame, a spray box, rollers, a transmission device, etc. (see Figure 2). The hot air circulation inside the equipment is transmitted through the mesh belt to achieve wood drying.
5. Actual application case
A large plywood factory purchased a new type of roller veneer dryer, and the equipment parameters are as follows:
- Maximum working width: 4000mm
- Roller length: ≥4250mm
- Motor energy efficiency level: Level 3
The operation test shows that the uniformity of the final moisture content reaches 0.25 (see Table 4), and the cracking rate is controlled within 1.50 (see Table 4 P2).
