《GB/T 6974.5-2008起重机术语第5部分：桥式和门式起重机》由TC227（全国起重机械标准化技术委员会）归口，TC227SC3（全国起重机械标准化技术委员会桥式和门式起重机分会）执行，主管部门为中国机械工业联合会。
GB/T 6974《起重机术语》分为4个部分：
本部分为GB/T 6974《起重机术语》的第5部分。
GB/T 6974定义了起重机领域的最常用术语。GB/T 6974的本部分定义了桥式和门式起重机的相关术语。
本部分等同采用ISO 4306-5：2005《起重机术语第5部分：桥式和门式起重机》（英文版）。
为便于使用，本部分做了下列编辑性修改；
――“ISO 4306的本部分”一词改为“GB/T 6974的本部分”；
――删除了国际标准前言；
――删除了各条术语后的作为参考的注；
――按照GB/T 1.1的编写格式将范围、术语和定义加了章号，按每条术语的顺序号编了条号；
――增加了中文索引。
