Scope

This standard specifies the iodometric method for the semi-quantitative determination of free phenol content in phenolic molded products. The free phenol content in molded articles is mainly affected by the degree of cure. Determination of free phenol content is also important when contamination of food or other materials due to contact with molded articles has to be considered.
