Foreword

ChinaStandards.net is in charge of this English translation. In case of any doubt about the English translation, the Chinese original shall be considered authoritative.

This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.

This document replaces GB/T 9107-1999 Refined cotton. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect GB/T 9107-1999:

a) The scope is modified: the application scope is modified from alkaline cooking to cooking (see Clause 1 hereof; Clause 1 of Edition 1999);

b) The product form is added (see 4.1.2 hereof), specifications (see 4.2 hereof; 3.2.2 of Edition 1999) and model compositions are changed (see 4.4 hereof; 3.2 of Edition 1999);

c) The requirements of foreign fibers in flocculated refined cotton products (5.1), foreign matters in flocculated refined cotton products (5.2), dust count of rolled (sheeted) refined cotton products (5.3), bursting strength of refined cotton products (5.4), and the quantitative and thickness of rolled (sheeted) refined cotton products (5.5) are added;

d) The product models of refined cotton for cellulose acetate, cellulose ether, and nitrocellulose are added, and the technical performance indexes are modified (see 5.6, 5.7, and 5.8 hereof, and 4.2.1, 4.2.3, and 4.2.2 of Edition 1999);

e) The subclauses "General provisions" (see 6.1), "Environmental requirements for specimen preparation" (see 6.2.1), and "Specimen preparation in rolls (sheets)" (see 6.2.3) are added.

f) Determination methods, including limiting viscosity (see 6.3), acetone soluble matter (see 6.11), foreign fibers (see 6.12), impurities (see 6.13), dirt count (see 6.14), quantification, thickness (see 6.15), and rupture resistance (see 6.16) are add;

g) The “Inspection rules” is modified (see Clause 7 hereof; Clause 6 of Edition 1999);

h) The requirements of marking, packaging, transportation and storage are modified (see Clause 8 hereof and Clause 8 of 1999 edition) and the requirements of delivery are added (see 8.5).

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. The issuing body of this document shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.

This standard was proposed by and is under the jurisdiction of China North Industries Group Corporation Limited.

This document was issued in 1988 as first edition, its first revision was issued in 1999, and this is the second revision.

4 Product models

4.1 Classification

4.1.1 The product main purposes are divided into three categories:

a) Those for cellulose acetate are denoted by the capital letter C;

b) Those for cellulose ether are denoted by the capital letter M;

c) Those for nitrocellulose are denoted by the capital letter X.

4.1.2 The product forms are divided into two categories:

a) Flocculated products are denoted by the capital letter X;

b) Rolled or flaked products are denoted by the capital letter J.

4.2 Specification
