Scope

This standard specifies the mechanical, physical and magnetic properties of disk platters with an outer diameter of 200 mm and an inner diameter of 63.5 mm. This disk platter is coated with a lubricant that is used in data storage devices. This standard specifies the specific requirements for the disc so that it can have good performance at 95840 magnetic flux reversals per track. When used in other densities, to obtain the same performance, some changes can be made to the mechanical, magnetic and electrical properties.
