Scope

This standard specifies methods for the determination of the depth of thin decarburization (including alloy depletion—the same below) and carburization (including nitrogen addition—the same below) on the surface of aerospace structural steel (except low-carbon carbon steel). This standard is applicable to the determination of the depth of thin decarburization and carburization layers on steel parts such as vacuum heat treatment, protective atmosphere heat treatment, salt bath heat treatment, paint protection heat treatment, etc., as well as the inspection of heating equipment and processes for non-oxidative decarburization and low-oxidation decarburization. .
