Scope

This standard specifies the minimum safety performance requirements for autopilots mainly used in civil transport aircraft powered by piston engines. This standard applies to aircraft autopilots that automatically control aerodynamic control surfaces through servo mechanisms to maintain flight and/or provide maneuvering flight around three axes.
