Introduction

Background of Standard Revision and Technological Evolution

As the first revision of HJT 194-2005, HJ 194-2017 reflects the continuous improvement of my country's environmental monitoring technology system. The standard drafting units include five institutions including China National Environmental Monitoring Center. The main revisions include:

Analysis of core technical requirements

4.1 Principles for the layout of monitoring points

The standard clearly requires that sampling points must meet the following requirements:

  • Collection space above 270° on the horizontal plane
  • Distance twice the height difference of obstacles
  • Sampling port height range 1.5-15m

Case: A PM2.5 monitoring point in a certain city had abnormal data due to its location in a blind spot of a building. After adjustment, the data was abnormal due to the 180° free space required by the standard, and the monitoring value returned to a reasonable range.


Implementation Suggestions

  1. Connection between the old and new standards: The new standard will be fully implemented from April 1, 2018, and the sampling record form needs to be updated (refer to Appendix D)
  2. Quality control focus: Calibrate the soap film flowmeter at least once a month (Appendix C)
  3. Special weather treatment: Sampling should be suspended when the wind speed is greater than 8m/s or in dusty weather
