Scope

This standard specifies the direct spectrophotometric and extraction photometric methods of 2,9-dimethyl-1,10phenanthroline for the determination of soluble copper and total copper in water. The direct photometric method is suitable for the determination of soluble copper and total copper in relatively clean surface water and groundwater. When a 50mm cuvette is used and the sample volume is 15ml, the detection limit of copper in water is 0.03mg/L, the lower limit of determination is 0.12mg/L, and the upper limit of determination is 1.3mg/L. The extraction photometry method is suitable for surface water, Determination of soluble copper and total copper in groundwater, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater. When a 50mm cuvette is used and the sample volume is 50ml, the detection limit of copper is 0.02mg/L and the lower determination limit is 0.08mg/L. When a 10mm cuvette is used and the sample volume is 50ml, the upper limit of determination is 3.2mg/L.
