Introduction
Background of Standard Evolution
JG/T 558-2018 replaces the 1992 version of the standard. The main technical changes include: adding wind pressure resistance performance classification, refining the impact test method, and improving material durability requirements. The new standard responds to the enhanced requirements for public building safety protection in the "Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings" GB50016-2014.
Definition of core terms
| Terms | Definition | Key parameters |
|---|---|---|
| Handrail height | Vertical distance from the front edge of the step to the top of the handrail | ≥900mm(residential), ≥1100mm(public building) |
| Forward-mounted | The column is installed on the upper surface of the ladder tread | Direct load transfer |
| Resistance to horizontal loads | Simulated lateral thrust of crowds | ≥1.0kN/m(residential) |
Material technical requirements
Stainless steel material must comply with the provisions of GB/T 20878, the moisture content of wood should be ≤12%, and glass railings should use tempered glass or laminated glass. Anti-corrosion treatment requirements:
- Hot-dip galvanizing layer thickness ≥85μm
- Powder spraying film thickness ≥60μm
- Anodized film ≥AA15 grade
Mechanical properties comparison
| Test items | 1992 version requirements | 2018 version upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Resistance to horizontal loads | No grading requirements | 5 new performance levels (1.0-5.0kN/m) |
| Impact resistance | Qualitative requirements only | Quantitative test method (soft body impact energy 300J) |
| Wind pressure performance | Not involved | Added 4 new wind pressure resistance levels (1.0-4.0kPa) |
Implementation suggestions
- Primary and secondary schools and other public places should give priority to the specification of resistance to horizontal load ≥3.0kN/m
- Coastal areas need to conduct salt spray test to verify the anti-corrosion performance
- Glass railings should be subjected to fragmentation state test in accordance with GB 15763.3 requirements
