Introduction
Background of standard integration and technological evolution
The 2018 version of the standard integrates 9 old standards and for the first time incorporates new structures such as lattice steel sheet pile wharfs into the standard system. The technological evolution is mainly reflected in:
| Technical field | Old specification | JTS 167-2018 |
|---|---|---|
| Pile foundation design | Dispersed in 5 specifications | Unified bearing capacity calculation formula |
| Seismic requirements | Some specifications are missing | Fully connected with JTS 146 |
| Durability standards | Anti-corrosion requirements are not unified | Detailed environmental zoning standards |
Core requirements of mandatory provisions
3.1.2.1 stipulates that the design service life of permanent terminals must reach 50 years, and that of temporary terminals must reach 5-10 years. A 100,000-ton container terminal project was ordered to be reworked because it did not meet the standards.
Article 4.1.3 requires that pile foundations must undergo the following:
- Concrete pile crack resistance verification (crack width ≤ 0.2mm)
- Horizontal deformation control of flexible mooring piles (displacement ≤ 50mm)
Key technologies for structure selection
Chapter 3.3 of the specification specifies the applicable conditions for six types of docks:
- High-pile dock: Applicable to sinkable pile foundations, with cast-in-place piles extended to rock foundations
- Sheet pile dock: Clay/sand foundations are preferred, with rock surface burial depth > 5m
- Grid steel sheet piles: Foundation bearing capacity required ≥ 150kPa
Breakthrough in pile foundation design
Chapter 4 System Specifications Three Pile Types:
| Pile Type | Bearing Capacity Calculation | Special Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Prefab Concrete Pile | Quk=Qsk+Qpk | Lifting Verification Bending Moment |
| Steel Pipe Pile | Consider Wall Thickness Reduction | Corrosion Protection Life ≥ 30 Years |
| Rock-embedded Piles | Rock Uniaxial Compressive Strength Verification | Rock-embedded Depth ≥ 2D |
Implementation Suggestions and Common Problems
Typical problem: A project ignored the influence of slope deformation in Article 4.1.5, resulting in excessive displacement of pile foundation
Solution:
- Perform geological radar detection before construction (Article 4.1.8 of the specification)
- Use the horizontal force calculation method in Appendix B of the specification
- Set monitoring points to control displacement
