Introduction
Standard Overview and Technical Background
LS/T 3261-2019 is an industry standard for linseed oil issued by the State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves, replacing the original standard. This standard specifies the quality requirements, inspection methods and labeling specifications for linseed crude oil and finished linseed oil.
Analysis of Core Quality Indicators
| Indicator Category | Crude Oil Requirements | Finished Oil Requirements | Test Method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refractive Index(n20) | 1.468-1.473 | 1.466-1.473 | GB/T 5527 |
| Iodine Value(I2)/(g/100g) | 132-138 | 130-140 | GB/T 5532 |
| α-linolenic acid content | ≥50.0% | ≥48.0% | GB 5009.168 |
Key test method description
Fatty acid composition determination
According to GB 5009.168, gas chromatography is used, and the detection limit of C18:3 (α-linolenic acid) is required to reach 0.05%. The practice of a certain testing agency shows that the best separation effect can be obtained by using a DB-23 column (60m×0.25mm×0.25μm).
Peroxide value control
The peroxide value limit of finished oil is 7.0-25.0mmol/kg (GB/T 5534). It is recommended that production enterprises adopt nitrogen protection technology. A demonstration enterprise extended the shelf life of its products by 40% through nitrogen-filled packaging.
Key points for implementation of the standard
- Label identification: must comply with the requirements of GB 7718 and GB 28050, and must specifically indicate the content and proportion of α-linolenic acid
- Storage conditions: recommended temperature ≤25℃, relative humidity ≤60%, stored away from light
- Transportation specifications: refer to GB/T 30354 to prevent oxidation and deterioration
Technical evolution analysis
Compared with the 2010 version of the standard, the new version has the following major changes:
1. Added trans fatty acid detection requirements (≤0.5%)
2. Adjusted the acid value index range (1.0-3.0mg/g for crude oil, ≤0.5mg/g for refined oil)
3. Introduction of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry as an arbitration method
