Scope

This standard specifies the operating procedures and requirements for inspecting local thermal damage on the surface of high-strength steel components using etching methods. This standard is applicable to corrosion inspection of exposed high-strength low-alloy steel components and carburized components. This standard does not apply to case-hardened steel components that have been nitrided or carbonitrided.
