Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

Principle of the method

The ability of fuel to pass through a 45μm stainless steel filter is determined under controllable cooling conditions using a vacuum suction device. The temperature at which 20mL of the sample flows for more than 60 seconds or cannot be completely refluxed is taken as the cold filter plugging point (CFPP).

Comparison of Key Technical Changes

Change Dimensions 2006 Edition 2019 Edition
Scope of Application Conventional diesel only Added FAME and synthetic diesel fuel
Temperature Measurement Glass Thermometer Only Added Digital Thermometer (Appendix A)
Precision Requirements Fixed Value Calculated by Formula (Sections 14.2-14.3)

Key points of instrument configuration

Core component requirements

  • Test cup: glass material, 45mL scale line accuracy ±0.5mm
  • Filter: 45μm stainless steel mesh, mesh tolerance ≤22μm
  • Vacuum system: constant pressure 2kPa±0.05kPa (200mmH₂O)

Operation process optimization

Temperature control improvement

New sample pretreatment requirements: The sample temperature must be stabilized at 30℃±5℃ before testing, and the temperature uniformity control is improved compared with the 2006 version.

Clear termination conditions

When the temperature drops to -51℃ and there is still no blockage, it is necessary to clearly report "no blockage at -51℃" to avoid ambiguous judgment.

Application case analysis

Biodiesel adaptability

The test of a certain B5 biodiesel (containing 5% FAME) shows that the cold filter point is 3-5℃ higher than that of ordinary diesel, and special attention should be paid to the anti-corrosion treatment of metal parts (6.1.1 Warning clause).

Implementation suggestions

Laboratory configuration

  1. It is recommended to configure a three-stage cold bath (-34℃/-51℃/-67℃) to meet the wide range of tests
  2. Automatic instruments should preferably use digital thermometers with a resolution of 0.1℃

Quality control

Establish a semi-annual calibration plan in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 11, focusing on monitoring:

  • Thermometers are traceable to national standards
  • Regular verification of filter size (GB/T 6003.1)
