Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the method for determining the acid value of natural waxes and synthetic waxes. 1.2 This standard uses an ethanol-xylene mixture as the solvent and is applicable to all natural waxes, including carnauba wax. Also suitable for oxidized microcrystalline waxes, oxidized Fis her-Tropsch waxes, oxidized polyethylene waxes and montan waxes. 1.3 This standard may involve certain hazardous materials, equipment and operations, but it is not intended to make recommendations on all safety is ues related to them. Therefore, it is the user's responsibility to establis appropriate safety and protective measures and develop an applicable management system before using this standard.
