Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

This standard specifies the method of using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer to determine multiple elements in unused grease. After sulfate ashing or microwave digestion pretreatment, the characteristic spectral lines of the elements to be measured are excited by plasma for quantitative analysis.

Instrument Technical Requirements

ICP-OES must meet the following core parameters:

  • Wavelength range: 167-589nm (covering aluminum to sodium)
  • Detection limit: ≤10mg/kg (most elements)
  • Peristaltic pump flow rate: 0.5-3mL/min

Safety warning: When using wavelengths below 190nm to determine sulfur/phosphorus, an optical path purge device is required

Method precision data

Key element precision verified by 8 laboratories:

ElementRange (mg/kg)Repeatability (r)Reproducibility (R)

Boron500-126000.192X0.720.471X0.69

Implementation Suggestions

  1. It is recommended to use closed microwave digestion for silicon-containing samples and avoid using hydrofluoric acid
  2. Alkaline grease should be selected class=instrument>Platinum crucible for ash treatment
  3. Each batch of samples needs to be analyzed simultaneously with the QC control sample to verify the reliability of the data

This standard incorporates the element boron into the detection system for the first time, providing a standardized detection method for the quality control of boron-containing lubricating additives.
