Scope

This standard specifies the test method for determining the ignition performance of diesel fuel using the is volumetric combustion chamber method. This standard applies to conventional diesel, oil sand-based diesel, blended fuel containing biodiesel, diesel with cetane improver added, low-sulfur diesel, ordinary and automotive diesel in compliance with GB 252 and GB 19147. This standard also applies to the measurement of the ignition performance of diesel blending components. This standard measures the ignition lag period by directly injecting diesel fuel into a combustion chamber filled with heated compressed air and having a constant volume. Use the formula to calculate the index indicating the ignition performance of diesel fuel - derived cetane number. This formula is an empirical formula for calculating the cetane number establis ed by correlating the ignition lag period with the cetane number measured in GB/T 386. The ignition lag period measured in this standard ranges from 3.1 ms to 6.5 ms, and the corresponding derived cetane number range is 64 to 33. Shorter or longer ignition lag periods can be measured using this standard, but precis on may be affected. Calculations for deriving cetane numbers and these longer or shorter ignition lag periods are given in 13.4. There is no data comparis n data derived for cetane numbers other than 33~64 and the cetane number measured in GB/T 386.
