Introduction
Analysis of the core content of the standard
| Technical elements | Requirements of this standard | Differences from EN 14538:2006 |
|---|---|---|
| Standard name | Simplified naming, highlighting the four elements of sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium | The original standard only contains three elements of calcium, magnesium and sodium |
| Measurement range | 1-10 mg/kg (expandable) | Extended applicability is not clearly stated |
| Result presentation | The sum of sodium and potassium, and the sum of calcium and magnesium are reported separately | Unspecified elements are not included in the conditions |
Key instrument configuration requirements
The standard requires the use of an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) equipped with an organic injection system. Key specifications:
- Recommended analysis wavelengths: 588.995/589.592nm for sodium and 769.897/766.490nm for potassium
- The axial/radial observation mode needs to be verified by a 1mg/kg standard solution
- The solution must be stored in a brown polyethylene bottle (100/250mL)
Key points of sample handling technology
Typical operation flow example: weigh 10g sample → dilute to 20g with kerosene → calculate dilution factor ≈ 2.0 → three parallel measurements and take the average.
- The standard solution needs to be prepared on the same day (low concentration solution has poor stability)
- Adding 2-ethylhexanoic acid can extend the validity period of the standard solution to 2 weeks
- The blank solution needs to contain 30g white oil + kerosene to 100g
Precision control indicators
| Item | Repeatability (r) | Reproducibility (R) |
|---|---|---|
| Na+K | 0.020X+0.193 | 0.191X+0.941 |
| Ca+Mg | 0.023X+0.271 | 0.149X+1.186 |
Note: X is the average of the two measurement results (mg/kg)
Implementation suggestions
- Contamination control: All glass containers need to be fully rinsed with sodium-free water
- Wavelength selection: Recommended wavelengths should be used first, and anti-interference should be verified when changed
- Result report: When the element content is <1mg/kg, it must be specially noted
- Standard update: It is recommended to pay attention to the technical differences of the current version of EN 14538
