Bench test method of automobile clutch

1 Scope

This standard specifies the bench test method of automobile clutch (including cover assembly and clutch driven plate assembly, hereinafter referred to as “clutches”).

This standard is applicable to automobile clutches.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1

clamp load characteristic
correlation curve between the load F acting on the pressure plate and the pressure plate displacement λ in the process of loading and unloading the pressure plate, as shown in Figure 1

3.2

position at nominal disc thickness
position of the pressure plate corresponding to the nominal clamping thickness of the clutch driven plate assembly during installation

3.3

clamp load at nominal disc thickness
clamp load of pressure plate on clutch driven plate assembly when at the position at nominal disc thickness during installation, which shall be calculated using Equation (1), as shown in Figure 1
