Introduction
Interpretation of the core content of the standard
This specification stipulates the electronic balance weighing method for the moisture content of forest floor combustibles. Samples are obtained through stratified sampling (ground cover layer and humus layer), and the mass loss rate is calculated after constant temperature drying at 105℃. Technical points include:
| Observation elements | Technical parameters | Implementation requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Sampling range | 100m×100m fixed sample plot | Random 4 points/time, spacing ≥5m |
| Instrument accuracy | Electronic balanceReadability 0.1g | Weighing range ≥2000g |
| Drying standard | 105℃±2℃ | The difference between two consecutive weighings is ≤0.2g |
Key technical implementation points
1. Layered sampling specifications
Use a 30cm×30cm standard sampling frame to collect samples in the order of ground cover layer (surface weeds, dead branches) → humus layer (0-20cm). Note:
- During the snow accumulation period, the snow layer needs to be removed for sampling
- The aboveground part of the weeds should be retained
- After mixing, each layer of samples should be immediately packed in aluminum boxes
2. Moisture content determination process
Application case in Daxinganling, Inner Mongolia: This standard was used for monitoring during the fire prevention season in 2018. It was found that the risk of forest fire increased significantly when the moisture content of the humus layer was <30%, which was consistent with the historical fire data by 92%.
Background of Standard Evolution
Based on 30 forest fuel studies from 2006 to 2015 (references 1-6), this standard unified for the first time:
- Sampling depth (humus layer ≤ 20cm)
- Drying judgment threshold (0.2g)
- Layer calculation method
Implementation recommendations
Quality control measures
- It is recommended to use electronic balance with windshield to avoid airflow interference
- A traceability relationship is established between the aluminum box number and the sampling point
- Re-testing after precipitation must be completed within 3 days
Data application direction
Moisture content data can be used for:
- Forest fire risk level forecast model
- Combustibility evaluation of combustibles
- Study on the impact of climate change on forest ecosystems
