1 Scope

This specification specifies the engineering design method and design principle of on-line analyzer system in petrochemical production unit, public works and auxiliary facilities.

This specification is applicable to the engineering design of on-line analyzer system for constructed, extended and renovated projects in petrochemical industry.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this specification, the following terms and definitions apply.

sample
a small amount of required test sample taken from the fluid to determine its components or properties

3.2
sample probe
component inserted into a process pipeline or equipment to take a small amount of sample

3.3
sample take-off point
position of taking sample on process pipeline or equipment

3.4
sample return point
position of receiving returned sample on the process pipeline or equipment

3.5
sample pre-conditioner
sample conditioning such as filtration, decompression, pressurization, gasification and separation, after which, the sample shall meet the requirements of transport, conditioning and on-line analysis

sample conditioner
sample conditioning such as filtration, pressure stabilization, washing and drying, after which, the sample shall meet the requirements of on-line analysis

sample line
connecting pipeline for transporting samples from sample take-off point to sample pre-conditioner and sample conditioner

fast loop
pipeline that speed up the flow of sample and shorten the lag time of transport

sample system
sample system including sample probe, sample pre-conditioner, sample line and sample conditioner

multi-stream switch system
system for realizing multi-stream sample switch

carrier gas
gases carrying samples, such as hydrogen, nitrogen and helium

gas used for calibration or testing

lag time of transport
time for transporting the sample from the sample take-off point to the inlet of the on-line analyzer

response time
time from the sample entering the analyzer to the analysis showing the content of the measured component

lag time of analysis
sum of lag time of transport and response time of sample

on-line analyzer
instrument directly installed during production process, used for continuous or intermittent analysis of material components or physical parameters

linear range
linear interval spanned by the calibration curve, representing the applicability to the content or concentration of the measured component

analyzer house
prefabricated fully-enclosed facility arranged on site, which can accommodate multiple on-line analyzers

analyzer cabinet
totally enclosed cabinet installed on site, which can accommodate one or more on-line analyzer(s)

analyzer shelter
non-enclosed protective facility, consisting of ceiling and three side walls, installed on site, which is well ventilated and can accommodate one or more on-line analyzer(s)

on-line analyzer management system
system that integrates multiple on-line analyzers on the same network for centralized monitoring, management and maintenance

on-line analyzer system
system consisting of sample system, on-line analyzer and analyzer cabinet or analysis house. For large petrochemical projects, on-line analyzer management system is also included
