Material Specifications

Metal Frame Materials

The standard specifies eight metal material options, including austenitic stainless steels such as 06Cr18Ni11Ti (code 6) and 022Cr17Ni12Mo2 (code 7). Hardness requirement: ≤217 HBW. For large diameters (>1500mm), cold-formed flat steel is permitted, but the number of welded joints must be ≤2.


Key Points of Structural Design

  • Waveform Parameters: Match the wave tooth pitch (2-4mm) and wave tooth depth (0.3-1.0mm) according to the single-side width of the gasket
  • Spacer Design: For multi-tube heat exchangers, the spacer and the annular frame must maintain waveform consistency
  • Positioning Structure: The thickness of the positioning ring (Type B) is ±0.5mm of the material thickness

Manufacturing Process Control

Typical Process Route

1. Laser cutting of metal frame → 2. Automatic argon arc welding splicing (penetrant testing required) → 3. Vibration aging treatment → 4. Graphite composite (45° overlap) → 5. Three-stage bolt tightening verification

Special Note: Welded joints must be polished flush with the parent material, and the penetration test must pass NB/T 47013.5 Level I.


Background of Standard Implementation

This standard, based on the project approval document No. 217 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology [2013], was edited by Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. It integrates the relevant requirements of Spiral Wound Gaskets (GB/T 29463.2) and Flexible Graphite Sheets (JB/T 7758.2), and specifically strengthens the following requirements for high-temperature, high-pressure, and corrosive working conditions in the petrochemical industry:

  1. Long-term performance at 450°C
  2. Sealing reliability at the splitter plate
  3. Manufacturing process for large-size gaskets (DN1800)
