Scope

This standard specifies the method for on-site determination of the in-situ density and moisture content of earth and rock materials using a deep nuclear moisture-densitometer as well as radiation safety requirements. This standard is applicable to placing the deep-type nuclear moisture-densitometer probe into a predetermined depth under the ground through a drill hole or measuring conduit, and using the gamma-ray scattering method and the fast neutron moderation method by hydrogen atoms to determine the in-situ density and density of materials. Moisture content; and fixed at the same measuring point for repeated measurements to detect changes in density and moisture content of materials.
