Scope
This standard specifies the product classification and composition, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of snow-melting rain and snow gauges. This standard applies to rain and snow gauges that automatically measure the amount of precipitation (rain, snow, sleet) after melting snow into a liquid state using methods such as heating or antifreeze. This standard does not apply to rain and snow gauges that directly measure snowfall without melting the snow.
