Introduction
Technical background and evolution of standards
With the increasing requirements for mineral impurity control in international trade, the General Administration of Customs issued the SN/T 5305-2021 standard in 2021, which applied ion chromatography to the detection of fluorine and chlorine in lead concentrate for the first time. Compared with traditional chemical analysis, this method has technical advantages such as low detection limit (0.001%) and strong anti-interference.
Core method principle
| Steps | Key technologies | Parameter requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Sample pretreatment | Sodium carbonate fusion method | 650℃±25℃ for 40min |
| Separation process | Steam distillation | 160-180℃ controlled distillation |
| Detection system | Metrosep A Supp 5 chromatographic column | 3.2mmol/L Na2CO3 eluent |
Analysis of key operation points
Case 1: During the inspection of a batch of imported lead concentrate, it was found that the fluorine content was abnormal (0.038%). After review, it was found that the distillation temperature did not reach 160℃, resulting in a low recovery rate. After strictly controlling the distillation temperature according to clause 8.4.2 of the standard, the measured value was 0.042%.
Typical problems: Incomplete cleaning of nickel crucibles will lead to an increase in the chlorine background value. Clause 6.3 of the standard specifically emphasizes the need to use sodium hydroxide for cleaning.
Method validation data
Validation by 10 laboratories showed that:
When the fluorine content was 0.038%:
Repeatability limit (r) = 0.0017%
Reproducibility limit (R) = 0.0058%
Implementation suggestions
- Protective glasses should be worn during melting operation (standard warning clause)
- It is recommended to measure the standard substance GBW07165 simultaneously with each batch of samples
- The working curve needs to be re-established after the chromatographic column is replaced
