Introduction
Analysis of standard technical framework
| Test items | Method principle | Key parameters | Instrument requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total volatile matter | 200℃ constant weight method | Heating for 20min, accuracy 0.0001g | Constant temperature oven with blast air (±3.5℃) |
| Water content | Karl Fischer titration | Drift value<10μg/min | Water titrator |
| Density determination | Liquid displacement method | 23℃±0.5℃ constant temperature | Lee density bottle (250mL) |
Core operation points
Key to total volatile matter determination
Use metal/glass flat bottom dish (75±1mm) to weigh 1g sample. When treated at 200℃, ensure that the oven temperature fluctuation is ≤3.5℃. The relative deviation of the results of two parallel tests should be <10%.
Karl Fischer Method Precautions
Special reagents must be used for samples containing aldehydes and ketones, and water calibration must be performed before titration (the difference between two calibrations is <0.01mg/mL). The sample volume is 0.5-2g, and the result is rounded to two decimal places.
Recommendations for the implementation of the standard
- Equipment verification: Regularly calibrate the constant temperature water bath (0.1℃ accuracy) and balance (0.0001g sensitivity)
- Reagent management: The replacement liquid should be an aliphatic hydrocarbon with a boiling point of 80-140℃, and n-heptane is a common choice
- Result calculation: VOC(g/L)=[(W1-W2)×ρ]×10, where W1 is the total volatile matter%, W2 is the water content, and ρ is the density g/mL
Technology evolution analysis
Compared with the earlier methods, this standard: ① Specified 200℃ as the unified test temperature ② Introduced the Karl Fischer titrator to improve the accuracy of moisture detection ③ The standardized operation procedures for the Lee density bottle are specified. When implementing, attention should be paid to the aldehyde and ketone sample handling requirements specifically pointed out in the standard.
