With the increasing exchanges of international racehorses and stallions, the SN/T 5476-2022 standard released in 2022 puts forward systematic requirements for the construction of quarantine sites for imported equine animals. This standard replaces the original scattered regulations and integrates the technical parameters of key functional areas such as isolation breeding areas and sick animal quarantine areas for the first time to strengthen the biosafety prevention and control system.

1. Partition isolation system

The standard requires the use of three levels of physical isolation: outer wall (≥2m), inner wall (≥1.8m), and functional area partition. Metal mesh fences (mesh size ≤12mm) can be used in mountainous areas, and disinfection channels (size ≥4m×0.3m) can be set up.

2. Biosafety facilities

• Video surveillance: Covering 15 key points, data retention ≥ 3 months
• Harmless treatment area: The volume of the burial pit is 0.8m³/head or 1.5m³/head according to the size of the horse
• Sewage treatment facilities: A seepage-proof collection system must be equipped in accordance with the requirements of NY/T 1168

It is recommended to give priority to sites with natural barriers (such as mountains and rivers). If there are farms within 10km, a wind direction frequency analysis must be carried out to ensure that the isolation area is located upwind.

1. First complete the acceptance of the external isolation facilities
2. Then build the internal functional zoning
3. Finally install the monitoring and disinfection system
