Introduction

Technical background of the standard

This standard is an important technical specification for the quality supervision of crude oil and residual fuel oil by the General Administration of Customs. It uses microwave plasma emission spectrometer (MP-AES) combined with microwave digestion pretreatment technology to achieve multi-element simultaneous detection. Compared with the traditional ICP method, microwave plasma technology has the advantages of 60% lower energy consumption and no need for argon gas.

Comparison of core detection parameters

Viscous samples need to be homogenized in a 50-60℃ oven, and the digestion process adopts a gradient heating program:

  1. 100℃ for 5min to remove volatile components
  2. Maintain 200℃ for 30min to complete the decomposition of organic matter

Instrument calibration requirements

The standard explicitly prohibits the use of hydrochloric acid matrix standard solution, and recommends the use of nitric acid solution (2+98) for step-by-step dilution to avoid the interference of chloride ions on the microwave plasma.

Method Validation Data

Validation by 6 laboratories showed that:

  • Repeatability limit of nickel in crude oil r=2.33X^0.091
  • Reproducibility limit of zinc in residual fuel oil R=2.76X^0.22

Implementation Recommendations

Laboratory Configuration Plan

Recommended equipment:

  • Microwave digestion system (at least 6 rotors)
  • MP-AES with nitrogen cooling
  • Specialized polypropylene volumetric flask set

Quality Control Measures

Each batch should contain:

  1. Process blank (to monitor environmental background)
  2. Verification of standard substances (recovery rate 85-115%)
  3. Parallel sample determination (relative deviation ≤ 10%)
